The primary function of tuned pipes is the reduction of the noise level. But they also have a great influence on the engine¡¯s performance. With different tuned pipes and manifolds one and the same engine can be adapted to certain track – and outside conditions. In principle a short manifold enables lower acceleration, but higher top speed. This means a long manifold improves the engines acceleration, but decreases the maximum speed. Conical manifolds improve performance in general, but fuel consumption increases significantly. Medium manifolds cause less speed performance, but reduce fuel consumption a lot.
